The Port is a major contributor to the Oakland economy, providing
jobs and public waterfront land through its ownership and operation
of the Oakland International Airport, one of the top 5 seaports
in the nation in terms of annual container traffic, and more than
400 acres of developable land, including Embarcadero Cove, Jack
London Square, and the Oakland Airport Business Park. Isys won the
bid to create the Port of Oakland's new website, with the primary
goal of making information about the Port's current projects and
future plans accessible to the community.
Working closely with representatives
from the Port, Isys designed and developed a community-friendly
site with straightforward navigation and a nautical yet modern
look. From the homepage, important facts are literally a click
away, with a regularly updated list of current events and
a "Jump To" dropdown menu that points visitors to sections
of interest. In addition, the website is a valuable resource
for contracting firms that intend to bid on Port projects,
with Bid Notices, RFP's and necessary forms easily locatable
in the Business section. Serving its intended function, portofoakland.com
helps the Port achieve its primary goals: To create economic
vitality in Oakland and encourage community involvement with
its projects.
