Since
1969, the Oakland Museum of California has hosted unique collections,
exhibits, and educational programs in order to generate a
broader and deeper understanding of California's history,
people, and environment. Isys designed the museum's website
with the intensions of promoting the museum as the most valuable
cultural resource in the Oakland community. The colorful site
offers visitors online slide shows and exhibits, and pertinent
information for those who wish to visit the museum in person
or become a supporting member. In addition, Isys recently
developed a database to host a calendar function within the
site enabling the museum to post events directly to the site.

The museum
asked Isys to design the Gold Rush! website to launch in January
1998, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Marshall's discovery
of gold at Sutter's Mill. In 1999, we created Our California
Underground website to coincide with the museum's exhibit
focusing on California caves and subterranean habitats. These
sites are both a promotion for and an extension of exhibits
at the museum, and are currently accessible to visitors as
virtual exhibitions.
